The Four Categories of BPIA Membership:
There are four categories of membership in BPIA, characterized by the company or individual's relationship to the biopesticide industry. Follow the links to see which best applies to you:
1) Voting Membership
Voting members must have at least one biopesticide (microbial, biochemical,PGR, etc.) product label registered or submitted for registration with a recognized regulatory agency (i.e. USEPA, PMRA). In addition, they must have >50% of the company’s pesticide R&D, marketing and/or manufacturing efforts focused on biopesticides, OR, a defined division or business unit with >50% of the resources dedicated to biopesticides, OR, be a formally defined entity or subsidiary of a company with >50% of resources dedicated to biopesticides.
Associate Membership is open to all companies who have substantial interest in R&D, manufacturing and/or marketing of biopesticides. Associate members may serve on any committee of BPIA, but may not vote. Associate members must have at least one biopesticide product label registered or submitted for registration with a recognized regulatory agency (i.e. US EPA, PMRA) and have a substantial interest in advancing the R&D, manufacturing and/or marketing of biopesticides.
Ad Hoc Membership is open to service providers such as consultants, research and testingfacilities, contract research agencies and government entities. Ad Hoc membership will belimited to those professionals or organizations that dedicate a substantial portion of their efforts to the study, testing, consultation or education related to biopesticides. Ad Hoc members may serve on any committee of BPIA, but may not vote.
This category of membership is open to individuals who are self employed, academics, government salaried or who would be involved in BPIA as individuals rather than as representatives of an institution or company. A substantia portion of the Individual member ’s professional activities should be involved with Biopesticides. Determination of eligibility for Individual membership will be made by the Membership Committee. Individual members are not allowed to vote in BPIA elections butcan serve on committees with the proviso that voting members must comprise a majority of all committees.
